Daily writing prompt
Do you trust your instincts?

Yes. You can’t afford not to. That’s what I think. I have been putting my well-being and safety first, listening to my intuition is part of that.

I remember a job I had, there was a guy I was working with. He was very cute. However, something in me told me not to be alone with him. He would say odd things to me like, “my house is cold and smells like a litter box but, my chest is warm, and we can go to my room and cuddle.” No! I am NOT going to your house for any reason. I don’t know you that well and nor do I trust you well enough to go to your house. He would also talk about this place he likes to go to in a woodsy area near his house. He would try to get me to go there with him. That was another red flag.

He told me he used to be in a gang and has been to jail. Told me his mother hoards cats and would say he “got rid of them.”

It wasn’t long before I stopped talking to him. As I have mentioned before, I had a feeling not to be alone with him.

Not long after, I hear from other people that he is in and out of jail. His mother was afraid of him and he’s very violent. Liked to harm animals. I think I even remember him saying he would put hands on a woman.

I’m glad I listened to my instincts. It probably saved my life. As soon as I get a gut feeling I don’t question it. If it tells me to run, I run. If it says not to go somewhere, I won’t go. If it says don’t trust this person, I won’t.
